OUR STORY
We moved to sunny Naples, Florida, with our three young children to escape the freezing Chicago winters. Immediately, we embraced the laid-back Florida lifestyle of fun in the sun. While exploring the beach one day, our oldest daughter noticed roped-off areas on the beach. Behind the ropes, we learned, were sea turtle nests. This sparked our kids' interest, and they quickly began learning everything there was to know about sea turtles.
Sea turtles are among the most important indicators of the health of the world’s marine ecosystems. Unfortunately, many factors have combined to threaten our beautiful paradise and the amazing creatures that call it home. Worldwide, six of the seven sea turtle species are considered threatened or endangered.
Upon learning about the plight of the animals, our family set out to do something about it. Lazy Turtle was founded in response to the marine conservation crisis threatening these turtles and other wildlife of South Florida.
